Remind your customers to buy from you

Having just finished implementing a simple email reminder system on a client's website we thought it worthwhile sharing this with our other customers as an idea that may lead to an increase in customer return visits and ultimately sales.

Of course it's success depends on the conditions within your market; A user may simply go to another website to buy the product if you are out of stock. However, having such a reminder system reinforces the message that your particular company offers added value which the buyer then might be willing to wait to receive.

Make sure the sign up process is simple and unobtrusive. If the user is already logged in then make sure that their email and name is already displayed in the reminder box, you don't want them to type it in again. Why not also tie in the emails to your tracking system to see what kind of click through response you get from your reminder emails?

Attracting customers is one think but giving them good reason to return is something that this facility helps to encourage.
