The Software should Meet YOUR needs

On Friday EI were called in to provide some help to a company that was using an off the shelf package for some very important project management that they were doing. With £3m plus worth of contracts riding on the successful use of the software it was important to get it right!

As it happened, the software didn't exactly meet their requirements but during the day we managed to do some customisation and shoe-horning to give them roughly what was required.

That said, it's worth keeping in mind the mantra that EI uses with all of their consultancy: The IT is there to support your way of working, not the other way around. While bespoke applications may sound more hassle than buying the latest product from the big supplier it often provides massively improved efficiency savings for your own way of working.
